Twice per year, the Rotary Club of Central Citrus County conducts an “Adopt-a-Highway” trash pick-up along Lecanto Highway between Roosevelt Blvd. in Beverly Hills to CR 486. This is a program administered by the Citrus County Road Maintenance Department. Once the trash is collected, the bags are left by the group’s “Adopt-a-Highway” sign along their designated road where the county hauls it away.
Recently, 13 members and students participated in the highway cleanup. Three of the students are part of the Rotary Youth Exchange Program from Belgium, Slovakia, and Spain. Thirteen bags of trash were collected; trash included routine items such as glass and plastic bottles to the more unusual items to include a sneaker, a real estate sign, and a PVC pole.
The Rotary Club of Central Citrus meets Wednesday at 7:30 AM at Tuscany on the Meadow at the Quality Inn on Norvell Bryant Highway in Hernando. The club has 25 members who represent various businesses and professions throughout the Central Ridge area. For more information, visit our website at www.citrusrotary.com.
